Asia is the world’s most disaster-prone region. In Asia, disasters caused over 45,000 deaths and affected almost 150 million people each year between 2005 and 2014. Affected by almost all types of natural disasters, China shares simila challenges such as geographical diversity, climate variations, rising population and urbanization. Significant efforts have been made to mitigate disaster risks and support recovery and China’s experience canpotentially benefit other developing countries in the region.
